You meet someone at a networking event, a trade show, or just standing in line at a coffee shop. You want to swap contact details, but your business cards are in your other jacket, and typing your number into their phone while they’re standing there feels slower than it should be in 2026.

That’s the problem DigiCard solves. It turns your phone’s lock screen into a shareable digital business card — no app to install, no card to run out of, no typing required.

What DigiCard Does

DigiCard generates a custom wallpaper for your phone with your vCard QR code built directly into the image. Set it as your lock screen, and anyone you show your phone to can scan the code and instantly save your name, number, email, and company details to their contacts.

The QR code is positioned to sit cleanly in the safe zone of your screen — out of the way of the clock, notification icons, and widgets — so it stays scannable no matter what phone you’re using.

How It Works

  1. Enter your details — name, number, email, company, whatever you want on your digital card.
  2. Position your QR code and logo — drag them into place on the wallpaper template.
  3. Export and set as wallpaper — download the PNG and set it as your lock screen.

That’s it. No account, no ongoing setup — you generate it once and you’re done.

Built as a Custom Web App

DigiCard is a good example of the kind of custom web application work I do for clients — a purpose-built tool with a drag-and-drop visual editor, built entirely in the browser with React. There’s no generic template behind this; every part of the layout and export logic was built from scratch for this specific use case.

If you’ve got an idea for a tool like this for your own business — internal or customer-facing — this is the kind of project I build end-to-end: from the interface down to the backend logic.

Try It (Beta)

DigiCard is currently in testing at digicard.adbconsulting.co.za. Give it a try and let me know what you think — feedback at this stage directly shapes what gets built next.

What’s Next: Dynamic QR Codes With Tracking

The current version generates a static QR code — once it’s printed or set as your wallpaper, it always points to the same vCard.

The next version will support dynamic QR codes: a single QR code that can be redirected to any link at any time, even after it’s already out in the world, plus scan tracking — so you can see when and how often your code gets scanned. That opens this up well beyond digital business cards, into things like:

  • Marketing campaigns and product packaging where the destination link might change
  • Event badges and signage
  • Anywhere you need a QR code today, with the flexibility to update it later

Need a Custom Web App Built?

DigiCard started as a personal tool, but the same process — idea, design, build, ship — is what I offer clients who need something custom built rather than pieced together from templates. If you’ve got a workflow, tool, or customer-facing app you’ve been meaning to build, get in touch and let’s talk about it.
